CHRISTMAS 2024

STOP PRESS
Regrettably, due to the high winds, we have no choice but to cancel the Christmas Lights Switch On.
This event takes months of planning and it is not a decision we have taken lightly, but the safety of everyone is paramount.
Unfortunately, we cannot postpone the event due to the prior commitments of so many involved.
The lights will be switched on remotely, so the town will still be shining bright tonight.

We have lots planned from 3pm - stalls, minced pies and mulled wine, funfair rides, Santa, Naughty Elf and The Grinch!

3.30pm Flitwick Parish Church have their nativity play Top of the Tree - everyone welcome to join in.  Come dressed as a nativity character.

3pm-4.45pm - Kings Church Flitwick have free craft activities for children

5pm the lights will be switched on with the help of our lucky winner 4 year old Reggie Tyne from Flitwick Lower School.

This will be followed by singing carols around the Christmas Tree with Ampthill Town Band.  You can download the Christmas Carols & Songs leaflet here.

Before the fun starts at the Town Square Flitwick Scout Group has its Merry Christmas Fair at 2pm for some Christmas fun, ahead of the Christmas Lights Switch On!

Fun games with prizes, crafts for sale, Christmas raffle,  pop in for a sit down, with a hot drink, festive snacks and treats.

CHRISTMAS 2023

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

We had more people than ever at our  Christmas Lights Switch On event on Sunday 26th November at Flitwick Town Square.

We celebrated the countdown to Christmas with an afternoon of festive entertainment with the fantastic Somewhere 2 Sing choir;  carols round the Christmas Tree with local community group choir and the Ampthill Town Band and even a special appearance from Christmas donkeys Molly and Rosie.

We were joined by the Naughty Elf, The Grinch and, of course, the man himself, Father Christmas.

During the afternoon we also enjoyed a special Advent Nativity performance by Flitwick Parish Church and friends with plenty of audience participation.

Taken centre stage was 6 year old  George Moodey who pressed the magic button to light up the town!  George, from Templefield Lower School won a competition to switch on the lights and did a fantastic job.

This year we have new Snowmen lights around the time which were well received by all the crowd.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the event; the local traders, Somewhere to Sing, Ampthill Town Band,, Bedfordshire Police and cadets,  FTC staff and to the Town Councillors and volunteers from Nexus Fostering for running the mulled wine and mince pie stall to raise funds for this year's Town Mayor's charities.

Have a very Happy Christmas!
