Green Canopy Tree Planting Initiative Underway!

The Flitwick Gardeners’ Association, The Parish Paths Partnership Group (P3) and our Public Realm Team have had a busy morning planting trees within the grassed area of Station Road.

Thanks to Central Bedfordshire Council’s Tree Planting Grant, the Green Canopy initiative will also see new trees and hedgerow planted throughout the town in Hinksley Recreation Ground, Station Road and Beaumont Road play areas.

500 specimen trees, saplings and hedgerow will be added to the tree cover and natural scrub. This will include Rowan, Wild Cherry, Silver Birch, Lime and Beech trees as well as Hawthorn, Blackthorn and Hazel native hedgerow.

We look forward to seeing new habitats formed and flourishing wildlife throughout the town as the project continues.
